The life of the cannabis plant can be split into four key stages. Germination, seedling, vegetative and flowering. Flowering occurs naturally as days grow shorter and the light drops to 12 hours or less per day. If you are growing outdoors, choose and outdoor cultivar like Grandaddy Purple or Blue Widow. Flowering time differs according to strain, with sativa generally taking longer than indica cultivars. Geography plays a major part, too. The further, north you are, the sooner you will need to harvest. Flowering outdoors takes at least 8 weeks, with harvest months ranging from September to December.
